Waste Management - Operations Supervisor

July 2020 - Current

I currently manage a team of 30 + drivers and vehicles, servicing the wider Christchurch areas waste streams. From managing recruitment, to general human resources and payroll requirements. I also manage vehicle maintenance and scheduling using EROAD, JDE(CAM), Shifts fro rostering, ensuring vehicle compliance in line with NZTA and company requirements. A big part of my role is ensuring that our employees work in a healthy and safe environment, from ensuring compliance and managing inductions and training programs, to conducting toolboxes and giving regular feedback to drivers on performance. Whilst difficult to implement new opportunities or processes in a large corporate business, I am always looking for new opportunities to improve or streamline everyday processes thru continuous improvement.

I interact with customers on a daily basis, from complaints to customer service requirements and problem solving customer issues mainly utilising salesforce as a client relations management (CRM) tool.

Health and Safety manager - overseeing and implementing changes to the business in line with legislative requirements including roll out of new H+S system, safety Manager and responder App.

Fleet Manager - vehicle maintenance and scheduling (EROAD, Customlinc, Go Roster) ensuring vehicle compliance in line with NZTA , TSL and  Log book requirements.

I oversaw the  reservations team, handling reservations and managing relationships with suppliers, agents, and customers. I have also been project manager for our new reservations and ticketing system(Customlinc), being responsible for the initial setup, and ongoing maintenance and configuration.

I managed payroll, including human resources through to employee recruitment and training; including but not limited to the development of training schedules, policies and procedures. I am extensively involved in cost reduction through continuous improvement and implementing lean strategies.

Assisted in overseeing branch operations specifically customer Service and fleet Service teams. Running team building sessions (drive) and organising team events to build team morale.

My role included dealing with customer complaints through to resolution, increasing sales and driving continuous improvement throughout the branches and recruitment and training of front of house employees.  I also was charged with managing the fleet and maintenance repairs, including scheduling and logistics, yard planning, and fleet coordination.

Cost reduction through lean processes and procedures including standardising branches across the country. Tasked with managing health and safety, including managing the H+S committee, managing risks and hazards.

Payroll (payglobal) and Human resource management for the branch and crisis management during the Christchurch earthquakes.

Successful national business setup and implementation in the budget camper-van and car market of multiple depots and teams. I was responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of customer service, fleet Service and detailing teams for the South Island.  This included dealing with reservations, customer issues, sales and driving continuous improvement throughout the depots including recruitment and training of customer service representatives.  The role was a very hands on from detailing campers and cars to invoicing and account management.
